Arduino - AR - PHP
Hardware design for an Augmented Reality project of Sander Veenhof. The Arduino (with ethernet shield) reads a simple online php page that is constantly updated by the augmented realty interface (layar). When the AR layer is used the php site will be updated accordingly. The Arduino reads the data and switches lights on and of (in reality!)

Mouse Trap I made this mouse trap to catch a mouse in my house. It later served as a simple example about triggering events with motion detection for a class of students.
The mouse trap catches the mouse alive, it uses a camera to detect the mouse and triggers a solonoid on the right moment. Made with Max/MSP.

8 video channels
Software and Hardware design for a 8 screen interactive video installation. The installation runs on one computer with 4 video cards with 8 video outputs in total. Completely synced playback of the video. Controlled by two max-msp/jitter patches that allow super fast switching of the video sources. A fire wire webcam is used to detect movement and determine interaction.

Network Controlled Mechanics
The window of the artists studio opens when a door in the Gallery is opened. The two separate locations are connected by internet signals that are send and received with two little software programs. The window is pushed open by a wiper motor from a car.

Custom Video Software Tool
For specific video content a simple and fast VJ tool (stand alone) was designed to manipulate the video with old skool effects that suited the source material. Connected to a 8 screen grid made with VGA splitters.

Telephone Sound Database
The vintage telephone is modified and connected to a software patch.
The visitor in the one person theater piece hears spoken choice menus (56 audio files) when picking up the Horn, by pressing the dials on the phone the visitor navigates through the menu's that construct a storyline. A radio suddenly starts to play in the room when a certain choice is made. The events and sound database are controlled by the software. for Suzanne Groothuis
Wireless footpedal
This prototype is wireless and is made from an old Organ footpedal and wireless keyboard.
The incoming key messages can trigger events, soundfiles or generate Midi-messages to control Midi instruments.
for prototyping
Button Interface
This machine displays videos, by pressing buttons you can zap through the different videos in a fast and happy way.
The buttons are connected to a hacked keyboard, making the whole installation super universal and fast.
After power out the machine reboots like nothing happened.

Guitar Stompboxes
Made from scratch, with mostly some leftovers from broken machines, they are based on fuzz face pedals and Rangemasters.
I gave a 1day workshop to befriended musicians.
